# External stamps

> How Lambda records a Government Number stamped outside Lambda without creating another CFDI.

When CargoWise reports a Government Number for a document that Lambda did not stamp, the workspace shows **Stamped externally**.

Lambda stores that evidence and does **not** submit another stamp to Facturapi for the same document.

## When it appears

This path is uncommon on the first CargoWise outbound push. The normal income path arrives unstamped; Lambda stamps through Facturapi and then returns artifacts.

**Stamped externally** appears when CargoWise already carries an outside SAT UUID — for example a CFDI issued before Lambda owned the route, or evidence that only arrives with a later push.

## What Lambda does

* Records the external stamp evidence on the document
* Leaves the fiscal result as observed, not re-created
* Continues downstream work that only needs verified parent stamp evidence when that evidence is usable

What Lambda does **not** do:

* Create a second CFDI for the same document
* Quietly replace an external UUID with a Lambda-issued stamp

## How to read it

**Stamped externally** is a successful observation, not a failure. If linked payments or credits still pause, the note is about missing or contradictory parent evidence — not about “finish the external stamp.”

See [Income invoices](/stamping/income-invoices) for the normal stamp path and [Statuses](/stamping/statuses#success) for the label.
